Art Suyl - Van IJk
|
We, Dinie Suyl and Leny van IJk, have been each others best friends, endorcement, mirrors and soulmates for twenty-five years now.
As people, women, mothers and friends we complement each other very often. Especially when it comes to art. About fifteen years ago, we started to paint together and we have been painting ever since. When people look at our paintings, they can see how we've been growing and developing our artskills, and also how we've experement and flirt with different styles and materials.
We also study art history so we can understand art itself even better.
We are inspired by life!
Dinie Suyl
"To me, painting is a way to remind me of my own strength and potential.
Love for colours and harmony keep giving me the room to grow."
Biography
Born in 1954, in Amsterdam, married, 3 children an 2 grandchildren.
"I worked in the book trade for 12 years. Besides I explored all kinds of spiritual currents. After that, Leny and I profided courses in [Spiritual.........] for 18 years (Suyl & Van IJk).
Since I was a little child I have been interested in art. On rainy days I used to leaf through the art books in my childhood home. When doing so, I was amazed by the colours, the forms and fantasies that I saw in the books. Just like literature, a sculpture or painting can still change my worldview. This change helps me to put myself, and everything around me, in a perspective that becomes more broad and free with every art-experience.
I try to transmit these new experiences in my paintings."
Leny van IJk
Born in 1954 in Bodegraven, where she lived for 20 years, after that she lived in Alphen a/d Rijn, then again in Bodegraven for 3 years. She has been living in Amsterdam for the last 25 years.
Biography
"Together with Dinie, I took a 3-year course 'psychic reading' and after that we started the company Intuïtief Bewustzijn Suyl & Van IJk. I assisted Dinie with teaching the coursegroups.
We had this company for eighteen years. In the same period we followed a training course artistic therapy. Afterwards, we decided to paint. We started out with wet-wet painting and [sluieren], this made us want to start painting on canvas. We started out with acrylics and then we switched to oil.
I painted my themes by following my intuition, that's how the first forms take shape. I work these out unto the paintings that you may be viewing right now, for instance.
This has given me great pleasure for 15 years."
